From a very young age, I felt the desire to look different from everyone
else. But every time I went to the shops and bought the newest look, it
turned out that half of my friends did the same. We became little clones
of the fashion world.
By the time I was at College, and later University, I stopped going to
the same shops as everyone else and started shopping for vintage clothes,
to try and find my own style. While that lasted during most of my student
years, others were starting to do the same and soon the original became
the usual.
By this time I had started to gain the knowledge and skills to make my
own clothes. I felt my own designs gave me so much more confidence and personal
identity because nobody would have the same and the fit felt better. I wasn't
squeezing into anything; nothing was sitting out of place, it was made for
me, to fit me, and nobody else.
This is when Amelie started, As more people asked me where I got my clothes
the more demand came for one-off pieces. The rest is history...
